This is a very special card of Republic Day sent by Mr Ankit Agarwal from Pune. The cancellation is of 26 Jan, Republic Day a national holiday in India. On this day all post offices of India Post are closed except  RMS branch of India Post functions. This cancellation is from Railway Mail Service office which functions on all  24 x 7 days. Thanks to Mr Ankit for this nice card with very special cancellation of 26 January 2012.

My Stamp at UPHILEX -2011

LUCKNOW: Giving a personal touch to your letters would not be a difficult task any more, as the office of the chief post master general, UP circle is all set to introduce 'my stamp'.

Giving details about this facility, director headquarters, postal services UP, Sachin Kishor said, "My stamp is basically a personalised stamp and it is a wonderful way to celebrate special occasions such as engagements, birth of a baby, or to send as greetings to loved ones and friends." He added that the concept was launched during the National Philately exhibition. "UP would be having the facility for the first time," he said.

Officials informed that the service would be available during the 10th annual UP Dak Ticket Exhibition ( UPHILEX-2011) starting December 16. The venue for the event is Lalit Kala Akademi, regional centre Lucknow. They said that getting a personal stamp would be easy. "The applicant will have to pay Rs 300 for which he would get 12 photo stamps. These stamps would be printed by the postal department and valid across the world," said Kishor.

The stamp would be printed on several template having different themes. The template contains a proper stamp having a worth of Rs 5 along with a space for the applicant's photograph which will be clicked During Indiplex held in Delhi, six themes were designed. These were trains, aeroplanes, wildlife, panchatantra, Sun signs and Taj Mahal.

The Bulletin 1 is available for download at http://www.stampsofindia.com/sine.html The Bulletin 1 contains the Regulations for Exhibitors,State Team Leaders, and Rules for Sales Stalls, amongst other useful information.

EXTENDED DEADLINES
The notification of acceptance or non-acceptance by the SINE GHQ to all applicants will now be individually communicated to by September 26, 2011 a week later as was originally scheduled.
Consequently the last date for the payment of the fees is also being extended to October 7, 2011. The envelopes for the exhibit will be mailed by Speed Post on October 10, 2011.
All exhibits delivered by mail must reach the SINE GHQ between October 24 and November 1, 2011. The exhibits delivered personally by the exhibitor or through State Team Leaders must reach by November 2, 2011.

Holiday stamps from USA…

Non denominated (44¢) Holiday Baubles special forever stamps will be issued on 13 October at the National Postage Stamp Show in New York City.The U.S. Postal Service’s cheery Holiday stamps feature four colorful ornaments sure to add to the joys of the season. These festive baubles may also inspire fond memories of beloved ornaments from childhood—objects that still have the power to enchant us today. The stamps go on sale Oct. 13.

A double-sided booklet of 20 and an ATM pane of 18 of the four Holiday Baubles special forever stamps will be issued Oct. 13 at the National Postage Stamp Show in New York City.

On the same day at the stamp show, in a double-sided booklet of 20, a Christmas Madonna and Child by Raphael special forever stamp will be issued.

On Oct. 14, the second day of the stamp show, two additional holiday special forever stamps will be issued for Kwanzaa and Hanukkah. These stamps will be issued in separate panes of 20.

My Stamp My Cover….

 

Here I  wish to share a special cover with an innovative idea. Our distinguished member Mr Vipan Kumar Thakur of Chandigarh has prepared special covers for “My Stamp”, personalized stamps issued during INDIPEX 2011. The cancellation on the cover is from Chandigarh Philatelic Bureau. It is a fancy item for collectors to preserve the memories. A variety on covers could also be created by sending them using Speed Post or Registered Post service of India Post.
